Más Poder Local is a quarterly publication edited by the Latin American Association of Researchers in Electoral Campaigns and the Political Communication Laboratory of the University of Murcia.
Since its birth in 2010, the journal has evolved from an initial eminently informative approach, to the present, focused on promoting the dissemination of high-level academic studies that contribute to knowledge in the field of political communication.
The journal has been edited by the Fundación Ortega-Marañón and the Laboratorio de Comunicación Política from 2010 to June 2015, and by the Asociación Latinoamericana de Investigadores en Campañas Electorales and the Laboratorio de Comunicación Política of the University of Murcia, from July 2015 to the present.
The journal is published in Spanish, although it allows the publication of articles in English and Portuguese. Access to the journal is completely free, both for authors and readers. The call for articles is open throughout the year.
Más Poder Local is a scientific journal, which complies with the main criteria of editorial quality required by the scientific community (boards, committees, periodicity, evaluations, indexing...).
Thematic focus and scope:
The journal covers a wide range of topics inscribed in the field of political communication, including: Digital communication, electoral debates, local political communication, discourse, political leadership, crisis communication, fake news and political communication, political and electoral marketing, institutional communication, technification of political communication, political culture and communication.
Scope of the journal: Spain, Portugal and Latin America.

Authors who publish in this journal will retain their copyright, but will grant the journal the right of first publication of their work, which will be simultaneously subject to the Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-No Derivatives license. 4.0 International, which allows third parties to share the work as long as its author and its first publication in this magazine are indicated, and does not allow commercial use of it or derivative works.
The MPL journal is open access to its content and publication in the journal is free of charge.
Editorial practices on gender equality
Más Poder Local is a publication committed to gender equality, carrying out actions and practices that enable the visibility of researchers in the field under study in this publication. From Más Poder Local, measures aimed at caring for:
Inclusive language
We recommend the use of inclusive language in all contributions to the journal, and it is advisable to replace the use of the generic masculine when referring to men and women by terms of generic value or unfolded formulas. In order to facilitate the application of the principle of equality, we recommend reading the United Nations web section: Inclusive language in terms of gender.
Gender perspective in research
It is recommended to incorporate the gender perspective in research work, avoiding stereotypes and gender biases derived from mere social constructs. Likewise, the research community is urged to incorporate the sex or gender variable in their research, in order to analyze the possible differences between men and women, as well as guarantee the proportional composition of sex when the research derives from the exploitation of sample data.

Gender Parity
MPL seeks to maintain gender parity in the composition of the editorial teams and of the people who collaborate in the review of contributions.
Anti-plagiarism policy
«Más Poder Local» maintains an anti-plagiarism policy that ensures that all published works are unpublished and guarantees that all manuscripts are original. The Editorial Board, authors and reviewers have a set of specific tools for detecting plagiarism: Plagium, Copionic, WriteCheck, PaperRater, Plagarisma.net, Viper, Plagarism... free access or licensed platforms that monitor originality and control the plagiarism.
Preservation policy
The journal incorporates Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe (LOCKSS) and PKP PN which allows libraries to preserve selected web journals by regularly checking the websites of registered journals for recently published content and archiving it.
Interoperability Protocols
Más Poder Local provides an OAI-PMH (Open Archives Initiative – Protocol for Metadata Harvesting) interface, allowing other portals and information services to access the metadata of published content.
