Abstract
This article analyses the evolution of the levels of individual affective polarisation in Spain over the period 2021-2024. It also explores the bivariate influence that different socio-demographic, political and other variables related to several of the explanatory theories on affective polarisation exert on the phenomenon, as well as its influence on democratic attitudes and social distancing. Data from the National Political Polarisation Surveys of the Centro de Estudios Murciano de Opinión Pública are employed and the rationale and objectives of this project are presented. It also provides a synthetic review of works published in recent years on affective polarisation in Spain and their findings.
